HEIRLOOM grows living portraits of Gina’s daughters from their own cells that have been cultured from a single sample taken from their mouths in 2014. Heirloom combines innovative new methods and cell nurturing cocktails, in equipment readily available.

Gina Czarnecki, *1965 in Immingham, lives in Liverpool, UK. Czarnecki started her career making animated film and video that focused philosophical questions through engaging with the visceral, psychological and biological body. Since the mid 1990’s this combined with her fascination with convergent developments in life sciences and technologies, their possible applications and how this shapes and informs identity. In her recent works Czarnecki works often in collaboration with musicians, programmers and scientists.
